Teens to Perform Antigone Now

2023 Antigone Now graphicTeenagers will perform Melissa Cooper’s Antigone Now in the debut performance of the Center’s new Summer Teen Intensive program for ages 14-16 on Thursday, June 29, at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Theatre. Admission to the performance is free.

The new program is in addition to the Center’s popular Summer Camp program for ages 4-10 and Youth Intensive for ages 11-13. The Center set out to host two 4-week intensives in 2023, each with a unique focus. The first, Antigone Now, started on June 5. The second session will concentrate on Joe Landry’s The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play from July 10 through August 4, with the performance slated for Thursday, August 3 at 5:30 p.m.

For each 4-week session, students audition, rehearse, design, and perform a theatrical production of a well-known play under the instruction of working professionals.

Antigone Now is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. PLEASE NOTE: Inspired by the traditional Greek play, Antigone, there is frank talk of death, sound effects of war, and some more mature content than any of our older groups have produced before. Please note it may not be suitable for children under 11.
