Director, Carrollwood Winds

The Carrollwood Cultural Center is seeking a dedicated conductor/director for the Carrollwood Winds ensemble. The candidate will be characterized by strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature, administrative abilities, and a commitment to music in a mutually supportive environment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Teaching and supporting proper instrument techniques and music reading skills
  • Conducting rehearsals for the ensemble
  • Providing feedback to improve musician’s playing
  • Selecting appropriate repertoire for concerts
  • Overseeing stage presence and performance quality during concerts
  • Recruiting new band members
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive band environment

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Strong musical skills, including conducting, sight-reading, and instrumental proficiency on multiple instruments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership qualities that motivate and inspire
  • Organizational skills to manage complex schedules and logistics
  • Knowledge of music theory
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field

The Winds meet for rehearsals on Tuesdays from 7-9 pm

Renumeration: $22.50/hr

Director, Carrollwood Community Chorus

The Carrollwood Cultural Center is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated chorus director to provide musical guidance and direction for our chorus members. The Chorus Director’s responsibilities include teaching voice control techniques to chorus members, preparing the chorus for 2-3 concerts annually, and being able to work with various accompanists to enhance musical pieces as needed.

The Carrollwood Cultural Center Chorus has existed since 2008. It has had up to 80 members and has performed at EPCOT, Busch Gardens, and Carnegie Hall.

Our Chorus Director should be passionate, assertive, and able to interpret various styles of music while demonstrating exceptional communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.

Choir Director Responsibilities:

  • Warm up singers before rehearsals and performances.
  • Selecting appropriate musical pieces for the chorus to perform.
  • Scheduling chorus rehearsals and ensuring that chorus members attend rehearsals regularly.
  • Selecting individual chorus members to perform solos.
  • Guiding chorus members to achieve correct tone, pitch, rhythm, tempo, and harmony.
  • Conducting chorus members during musical performances to ensure the desired sound is achieved.
  • Creating suitable chorus formations for rehearsals and performances.

Choir Director Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or related field.
  • Documented experience working as a choir/music director.
  • Sound musical knowledge.
  • The ability to interpret various styles of music.
  • Strong leadership and listening skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Passion for music and community.
  • Patience, creativity, and assertiveness.

Chorus Meets Mondays from 7-9 pm
