In this course, adult students will learn the fundamentals of poetry writing combined with practical skills for submitting and publishing poems. Beginners and those with some experience will benefit from writing and revising poems, including works that are ekphrastic, reflective, pastoral, regional, observational, and narrative. Each of these kinds of poems will be taught and written over the course’s six-week span. Students will need something to write with (preferably a black or blue pen) and a notebook or legal pad. For the closing session, it may be helpful for students to bring a laptop or tablet to establish an account for submitting works.
