The Rafiki Ensemble to Perform in Carrollwood on February 20

The Central Florida African performance troupe, The Rafiki Ensemble, will perform traditional African heritage dance and music at the Carrollwood Cultural Center on Sunday, February 20, at 4 p.m.

Representing different world cultures, the ensemble members are passionate about African dance and music and pride themselves in emphasizing their commonalities and celebrating their rich differences.

The troupe calls themselves Rafiki to represent African cultural dance and music’s joyous, uniting, empowering, and uplifting nature. Away from sharing the rich African heritage, the group uses dance, songs, and storytelling to sensitize and educate the masses, handling themes like domestic violence, health and drugs, governance, and family.

Admission is $13 for Carrollwood Cultural Center members and $18 for non-members. Patrons may also live stream the event for $10, courtesy of an AARP sponsorship. Tickets and online access, in person at the Center’s box office, or by calling (813) 922-8167.
