This show is an exploration and an expansion of the Neo-Impressionists’ love of light and pure color!
Developed by Georges Seurat and his student Paul Signac, it was a more scientific approach to color theory than the previous impressionist movement. According to Paul Signac, who rejected the “Pointillist” label, “The Neo-Impressionist does not dot he divides.” The goals of “luminosity” and “harmony” were achieved by using solely pure pigments in the “prism” as defined by English physicist Sir Isaac Newton.
Using this perspective as a jumping-off point and an inspiration, the Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center is proud to present artwork that expands and enriches our experience of the world and its magnificent color.
