THE STUDIO PROJECT: Now Accepting Applications from Playwrights

The Carrollwood Cultural Center is now accepting applications from local playwrights to stage and showcase their work to an audience as part of The Studio Project for the Center’s 2022-23 upcoming theatrical season.

The Studio Project will serve as a theatrical incubator with an alternative focus each year. For example, the 2022-23 season will feature an original work by a local playwright. As part of the project, the Center will offer rehearsal and performance space in The Studio, located at 13345 Casey Road, behind the Center’s main building. In addition, the winning playwright will receive a stipend and a budget to produce their show for a live audience on January 13 at 8 p.m., January 14 at 8 p.m., and January 15 at 2 p.m.

Applicants of all skill levels are invited to apply below. Submitted work must be original and not previously fully staged, although staged readings are acceptable. In addition, applicants need to provide a brief synopsis of the work, a short excerpt from the piece, casting requirements, technical requirements, and why the play would be a great incubator project. Playwrights may complete additional applications to enter multiple pieces for consideration.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
