Teen Hero & Villain Studio: Character Design Intensive

  • Class Description

    In this 3-week intensive studio, students will design an original hero and villain while learning dynamic posing, expressive character design, and strong composition. Each session focuses on building real drawing skills used in comics, animation, and game art. Students will complete a polished final illustration by the end of the course.

    Week 1 – Dynamic Hero Design
    Gesture drawing warm-up / Building proportions / Designing a unique hero / 2–3 action poses

    Week 2 – Villain + Expression
    Shape psychology / Costume storytelling / Expression sheet / Hero vs villain composition sketch

    Week 3 – Final Piece
    Clean linework / Lighting basics / Limited color / Group critique

    • Basic pencil set, or any type of pencil mechanical or otherwise that you want to use
    • vinyl eraser (normal white or pink eraser)
    • sketchbook of your choice
    • Ruler for perspective exercises
    • Pencil sharpener
    • (Instructor will provide printed artist samples for reference each week.)
