    Basic Sewing

    Make a cute little zippered wristlet using rope, complete with a little pocket inside! You’ll be amazed at how easy and fun it is! Students will build on what they have learned in the rope bowl workshop to create a zippered wristlet using clothesline.

    IMPORTANT: Students must know how to operate and use their own machine. Some experience is required to learn to stitch on rope with a machine.

  • Required Materials

    Sewing machine with zig-zag stitch capacity, power cord and foot control, basic zig-zag sewing foot for the machine, size 90/14 denim/jeans or topstitch needle for the machine, and bobbins for your machine (it is helpful to wind one or two prior to class), clothsline rope (best rope can be purchased at walmart in their hardware department or in their online store. Look for Hyper Tough Diamond-braided cotton clothesline 3/16″ x 100 ft, or the brand TECEUM on Amazon which comes in a variety of colors, Ace Hardware also sells 7/32″ rope that is very nice, 10-12 strips of fabric cut 1″ x width of fabric to wrap your rope or 1/3 yard fabric, 10″ x 10″ (minimum) piece of fabric for inside zipper pouch, thread to match the fabric, 14″ zipper to match the fabric, 6″ inch zipper to match inside pocket, cellophane tape, glue stick, straight pins, wonder clip scissors, measuring tape, washaway fabric marking pen
