Basic Sewing: 3 Little Bags

Learn to make three sweet sewn bags! Created for beginning to advanced sewing ability, students will create three different small sewn bags in this 3-week course.
Projects include:
- Week 1: A drawstring bag
- Week 2: A zipper bag
- Week 3: A tech case for their device, complete with button closure.
(NOTE: Students must know how to operate and sew on their machine and bring it for this class.)

- Required Materials
Sewing machine in good working order, power cord and foot control (if not well lit, make sure your machine has a light), Standard zig-zag foot, zipper foot, buttonhole foot.
Fabric:
- Week 1: Drawstring Bag – 3 fat quarters, 1/8 yd fabric for drawstring or 2 yards grosgrain ribbon or twill tape
- Week 2: Two fat quarters for exterior and lining, 1/2 yard fusible interfacing (such as Pellon SF101 Shapeflex), 9″ zipper
- Week 3: Four fat quarters, 1 each for exterior, lining, accent trip, and pocket, 1/2 yd fusible fleece, 1 yd woven fusible interfacing, (Pellon SF101 Shapeflex) once 5/8 butt.
Thread to match your fabrics (gray blends well with all fabrics), Notions – Extra needles for your machine, measuring tape, Sewing guide (small ruler with sliding guide) washaway fabric marking pen, straight pins, scissors, wonder clips (NOTE: If unable to obtain the project materials, please reach out at least 3 days prior to the class meeting. Certain supplies can be provided for a kit fee of $35 to the instructor on the first day of class.)
