CENTER ANNOUNCES ITS ‘SUMMER OF 1969’ CONCERT SERIES

Join the Carrollwood Cultural Center as we celebrate the music of 1969 with three concert events, including tributes to David Bowie, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and more, during our “Summer of 1969” series.

The series will open on Friday, July 8 at 8 p.m. with the David Bowie Tribute Band, Stardust Memories. Bowie, the iconic and influential rock music legend, would have celebrated his 75^th birthday in January 2022. Stardust Memories uses costumes, theatrics, tight musicianship, and a legendary back catalog of hits, classics, and rarely heard gems in their musical tribute to the late rocker. Tickets are $18 for Center members and $22 for non-members.

Next, on Saturday, August 6 at 8 p.m., the band Peace of Woodstock will present 1969 (pictured above). In addition to videos, slides, and facts about 1969, the band will perform music by Fifth Dimension, the Rolling Stones, the Jackson 5, Three Dog Night, Sly and the Family Stone, the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin, Jackie DeShannon, The Who, and more. Tickets are $23 for Center members and $28 for non-members. Streaming sponsored by AARP is also available for $12.

Finally, the concert series will close with Bad Moon Rising: A Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) on Saturday, August 20, at 8 p.m. With the release of three albums (Bayou Country, Green River, and Willy and the Poor Boys), and eight singles (“Proud Mary,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Lodi,” “Green River,” “Commotion,” “Down on the Corner,” and “Fortunate Son”), 1969 marked the peak of CCR’s success. Tickets for Bad Moon Rising are $29 for Center members and 33 for non-members. Streaming sponsored by AARP is available for $15.

Other concerts at the Center include jazz guitarist Diego Figueiredo on June 3, the Carrollwood Community Chorus on June 5, rock and soul musician Alex Lopez and The Xpress on June 11, and Jim Burge and The Jazz Directions on June 17 and August 19.
