CARROLLWOOD — If nautical nonsense be something you wish … then all you have to do is head to Bikini Bottom at Carrollwood Cultural Center.

The Center will debut its summer musical, with this year’s entry being “The SpongeBob Musical” — the highly popular stage show that has been making audience members, young and old, laugh and sing along since it premiered at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago in June 2016.

The Center is, as are several other acting troupes, groups and other performing art centers, tackling this production this summer, and, frankly, are excited to put on a family-friendly and true-to-the-cartoon performance three times for three weekends starting July 19.

“It really is a very fun show that a lot of people love and might even be able to sing along to, and that it comes out to the audience is just great, too, in my opinion,” said Paul Berg, the Center’s executive director, who is also performing in the show. “We have a lot of amazing and creative people here at the Center, whether it be for theater and performing to the behind-the-scene people who are helping make the show come to life — we’re excited to bring it to the community many times this summer.”
