Jennifer Lancaster

Florida’s natural environment has been a theme in Lancaster’s artwork for years. Since attending Sarasota’s Ringling School of Art in the early 1970s, oil painting has been her medium of choice. Her process starts by building the entire composition with one color, usually Di oxazine purple, and then building up local colors in layers. Her favorite subjects are palm trees, which she finds beautifully linear. She enjoys playing with the abstract shadows, color, and light that change with the weather and the time of day.

Jennifer’s work received first place in the Center’s Pointillism & Beyond art exhibit in 2024.
