Advance Rope Bowl Making

    Rope Bowl Making class tileLearn how to put the finishing finesse on your rope bowl, such as braiding, coiled handles, a whole cloth center, lid, and more! Beginning Rope Bowl workshop or equivalent experience is a prerequisite for this class. Pre-class prep will be to bring one or more partially made rope bowls. The instructor will demonstrate several handle styles and techniques for finishing the top edge of the bowl, along with additional styles as students wish. Creativity is encouraged!

  • Required Supplies

    Sewing machine with zig-zag stitch capacity, power cord and foot control, basic zig-zag sewing foot for the machine, size 90/14 denim/jeans or topstitch needle for the machine, and bobbins for your machine (it is helpful to wind one or two prior to class), clothsline rope (best rope can be purchased at walmart in their hardware department or in their online store. Look for Hyper Tough Diamond-braided cotton clothesline 3/16″ x 100 ft, or the brand TECEUM on Amazon, which comes in a variety of colors. Ace Hardware also sells a 7/32″ rope that is very nice. Fabric – If you want to learn how to do the whole cloth center in the bottom of your bowl please bring: 1/4 yd fabric or enough to fussy cut a design or printed picture, 1/4 fusible fleece such as Pellon Thermolan, 1/4 yard Steam-ASeam Lite or Heat n’ Bond, Optional embellishments such as beads or seasonal embellishments, thread to match the rope, cellophane tape, glue stick, straight pins, wonder clip scissors, measuring tape
