Stardust Memories is a combination of well-seasoned and accomplished musicians presenting an exciting tribute to the live David Bowie experience. Established in 2016, the band has put on some amazing shows to the delight of Bowie fans over the years. 1969

1969

by Peace of Woodstock

The year was 1969. Richard Nixon was president and man landed on the moon. The Vietnam War raged on as discord continued at home. Elvis Presley recorded his landmark comeback sessions while the Beatles gave their final public performance on a rooftop in London. And on a dairy farm southwest of Woodstock, New York crowds gathered for three days of peace and music.

1969 is a musical tribute to the great music that was recorded in that monumental year. Come join us and journey back as Peace of Woodstock performs songs by Fifth Dimension, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Rolling Stones, the Jackson 5, Three Dog Night, Sly and the Family Stone, the Beatles,  Motown, Norman Greenbaum, Youngbloods, Neil Diamond, Archies, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Jackie DeShannon, and The Who.

1969 is more than a show…it is a multimedia event! By incorporating videos, slides, and facts about the year 1969, you will feel like you took a step back in time! In fact, we encourage you to break out your tie-dye, headbands, and peace signs for this concert!

THE ULTIMATE TIJUANA BRASS TRIBUTE (sold out)

Basil Rodriguez and South of the Border perform the music of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

South of the Border - Basil RodriguezAbout Basil Rodriguez & South of the Border

In 1964 at the age of nine,  Basil Rodriguez began playing the trumpet. At the same time, 28-year-old Herb Alpert was a rising star in the music industry with the hit single “The Lonely Bull.”

By 1966, Basil was playing along with the Tijuana Brass records his parents were listening to and went on to have a successful career as a professional trumpet player and arranger. Basil played in show clubs throughout the United States in the 1970s, backing up numerous recording artists, and had a 38-year run as Assistant Music Director and staff musician at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL.

South of the BorderBasil has come full circle to his first influence: The Music of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. Basil has meticulously recreated the arrangements that were recorded by the band in the 60s and added some other memorable hits from artists of the A&M label. Just as Herb did in the 60s, Basil has put together a band of eight seasoned musicians to form The Ultimate Tijuana Brass Tribute.

South of The Border:

  • Basil Rodriguez – Trumpet
  • Patrick McKenzie – Trumpet
  • Paul Bellevue – Trombone
  • Frank Del Vacchio – Guitar
  • Al Hurley – Bass Guitar
  • Richard “Stretch” Bruyn – Keyboards
  • Manny Betancourt – Percussion
  • Wink Warren – Drums
