An engaging talk about the art of [TATTOOING] with [SHANNA G.]
Tattooing as an intimate, sacred, and transformative human experience has been in existence for much longer than people generally believe. While the possibilities of finding earlier examples of ancient tattoos is exciting, there’s an overlooked visual history of body art extending from 3250 BCE to modern day that is eager to be explored through a critical and analytical lens. This lecture will explore the expansive history of tattooing, various styles from eastern and western cultures as well as the human experience in its relation to the practice of providing and receiving body art.
About the [ARTIST]: Shanna G.
My name is Shanna G. and I am a tattooist, art historian and owner of Apothic Tattoo Studio in Wesley Chapel, FL. After receiving my masters in Art History, I taught at a few local universities for a few years before deciding to re-enter the tattoo profession. I enjoy the research possibilities entwined with tattooing and hope to aid in mending the disconnect between the fine art and tattoo worlds in the future.
