Please join pianist Franz Mantini as he welcomes violinist Tiffany Lu for the 2017 edition of Strings in the Spring.
A native of Tampa, Tiffany holds an M.M. in Orchestral Conducting from Ithaca College, a B.A. in Public Policy from Princeton University, and certificates in Violin Performance and East Asian Studies. She currently is completing doctoral studies in orchestral conducting at the University of Maryland, is co-conductor of the University of Maryland Repertoire Orchestra and assistant conductor of the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra. This season Tiffany also holds the position of Music Director for the Wilmington Community Orchestra in Delaware in addition to serving as assistant conductor and personnel manager of the Capital City Symphony in Washington. She will hold the associate music director post at the Pierre Monteux School and Music Festival this summer.
Franz Mantini is a graduate of the University of South Florida and won the school’s Concerto Competition in 1987. He has performed Concertos by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and MacDowell and chamber music with the Lafayette String Quartet and principal members of The Florida Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, and the Houston Symphony. He was a prize winner in the 1990 Florida West Coast Chopin Competition and won a Jury Discretionary Prize and Best Performance of a Classical Era Work at the 4th and 5th International Piano Competitions for Outstanding Amateurs, respectively, presented by the Van Cliburn Foundation.
