Youth Arts Intensive for ages 11-13

Each 3-week session is an intensive training program in which students ages 11-13 will audition, write, rehearse, and perform a theatrical production under the instruction of working professionals.

Students of this program need to understand that dedication, focus, and participation make the program successful for all. We look forward to a wonderful summer as we work together to create something we can all be proud of!

2024 Gretel the Musical Summer Intensive Graphic2024 Projects

“Gretal! The Musical”
June 3-21

Before Hansel, there was Gretel! Based on the Russian source, which is the origin story of the tale, this musical focuses on the girls and women at the center of the adventure. Featuring folk/rock music, the songs capture the darkness but also the humor and humanity of Gretel’s journey to fetch the skull of undying light from Baba Yaga, one of the most fascinating witches of all time. On her way, Gretel meets the Black Knight, who holds the secrets of the stars in his cloak, and three horsemen, who carry the sun across the sky. Once Gretel reaches Baba Yaga’s hut on chicken legs, she confronts the witch. Baba Yaga sets three impossible tasks for Gretel to complete in exchange for the skull. In the tasks, Gretel discovers the positive power of her anger, the comfort of her compassion, the gift of her grief, and the truth of her birthright as she teaches herself how to survive.

2024 Adventures in Filmmaking Summer Intensive GraphicAdventures in Filmmaking
June 24-July 12

Let inspiration strike and put it on film! Students will be presented with several objects and movie genres and then storyboard them into short films. Working with film buffs and professionals, the sky is the limit to what they will create!

During the course of three weeks, students will audition, rehearse, and create their set, props, and costumes. Choosing an era/genre, they will write, direct, act, and create their own filmed vignette within an ensemble setting, culminating in a movie premiere fit for Hollywood. (No camp on July 4 and 5.)

FILM PREMIERE: Thursday, July 11 at 5:30 pm

2024 Everyone Gets Eaten by Sharks Summer Intensive Graphic“Everyone Gets Eaten by Sharks: A Cautionary Tale”
July 15-August 2

FACT: Most people, if not everyone, will eventually be eaten by sharks. But you can postpone the inevitable (and get a great deal on a timeshare!) by joining Adventure Dan on a tour through shark-infested scenarios to avoid, such as kayaking with meat paddles, night-swimming after prom, or genetically engineering sharks for science. Because three things in life are certain: taxes, death, and, specifically, death by sharks. A delightfully madcap comedy you’re sure to devour . . . unless it devours you first.

SHOW CREDITS: Everyone Gets Eaten By Sharks: A Cautionary Tale is written by Marshall Pailet and presented through Playscripts.
