DESCRIPTION:RThis 12-week class will teach teens the concept and design behind mural making. \nDuring the first few weeks\, students will meet with local muralists\, discuss design styles\, develop concepts\, and design a mural to paint on an internal wall of a commercial building. \nIn the remaining weeks\, students will meet on location (offsite from the CCC) and transfer their design to the wall\, paint it and watch their very own mural design come to life. DESCRIPTION:Students will learn the basics of wheel throwing by forming and throwing simple shapes on the potter’s wheel. More advanced students will build upon the basics to create larger\, more advanced projects. Please Note: Working with the wheel requires moderate upper body strength\, using shoulders\, arms\, and hands to mold and shape clay. \nWeeks 1-4 are for creating\, and weeks 5-6 are for glazing. Break week is for firing. Finalized pieces can be picked up the first week of the next session at your last class time\, even if you are not registered for the next session. Notice will be sent out to all students once the firings are complete.

This year’s themes include Precious Moments to All Hallows Eve and Gnome for the Holidays to What the Elf? DESCRIPTION:Instructors: Alexis Arrazcaeta \nAge:18+ \nLevel: All Levels \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequired Materials\n\n\n\n5-gallon bucket with lid\nset of pottery tools\napron (recommended)\neither two plastic garbage bags or dry cleaner plastic or a box of saran wrap\nsmall spray bottle\nsmall bottles of hand lotion (highly recommended)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaterials Fee:\n\n\n$50 (due on the first day of class) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTuition\n\n\n$120 member / $140 non-member \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRound It Up\n\n\nConsider making a donation when registering for classes or purchasing tickets. Your donation can be as simple as rounding your total to the nearest five or ten dollars — or whatever amount you wish to give upon checkout. Thank you for your contribution! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStudents will be introduced to the hand building of pinch\, coil and slab as well as basic design techniques to create functional and non-functional clay objects. Through the instruction of these techniques\, students will begin to recognize the properties\, possibilities and limitations of clay and acquire skills to perfect their work and create aesthetically pleasing forms with strong craftsmanship. \nStudents who have already acquired the basic techniques of hand building and design will be able to build upon their skills to create more advanced works. \nWeeks 1-4 are for creating\, and weeks 5-6 are for glazing. Break week is for firing. Finalized pieces can be picked up the first week of the next session at your previous class time even if you are not registered for the next session.
