SUMMARY:"Painting for Hope" by Carol Harden Hall
DESCRIPTION:Carol Harden Hall\, a native Floridian\, earned a BA in Fine Art from the University of Florida in 1974. She taught art in private schools in Tampa\, FL.\, and gave private instruction in painting and drawing to children K-12 for several years while raising her family. She also freelanced as a faux finisher for many designers in the Tampa Bay area and painted pastel portraits by commission. In 2014\, she dedicated herself to painting full-time in oil and pastel\, pastel being her primary medium. \nCarol is a juried Master’s Circle member of The International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS)\, a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America\, a Signature member of the Pastel Society of Tampa Bay\, and a juried Associate member of Oil Painters of America. \nCarol is an exhibiting artist member and past president of the Boca Grande Art Center in Florida. She currently serves on the board of the BGAC and serves on the board of IAPS as the 2nd VP. Carol has won numerous awards for her pastels and has been juried into many international exhibitions\, including but not exclusive to the IAPS Open and Master’s Circle competitions\, PSA\, PSWC\, Dakota Arts\, and Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100. \nArtist Statement:\nI have been doing something with the arts my entire life. I have always loved color and liked the “hands-on” qualities of many different\nmediums\, from drawing and painting to ceramics\, fiber arts\, and many others. Making art is not only a means of self-expression but a form of\ncontinual growth and renewal. I now spend all my time painting in oil and pastel\, enjoying the tactile and visual qualities each has to offer.\nWhen painting\, I can lose all thought of time and everything around me except my work. Painting is a spiritual exercise for me and is very\nhealing. It is a necessary part of my life. I enjoy painting various subjects\, from land and seascape to human figures\, wildlife\, and still life. Each offers its unique opportunities and challenges to study light and value contrast. Whatever I paint\, I simplify the composition to what it is about the subject that has attracted me and to convey that in a manner that will draw the viewer in to complete the story. \n100% of my sales go to charity\, including :\n1. The Spencer Hall Memorial for Mental Health\, a foundation started by my husband and me in 2017\, to promote an awareness of suicide prevention and of the needs of those who struggle with mental illness and to provide help to those in crisis.\n2. Joshua House is a home founded by my husband and four other Tampa men over 30 years ago for the protection of abused\, neglected\, or abandoned children. \nVisit https://www.carolhallfineart.com/ to view Carol’s website. \nClick here for Gallery Hours.

SUMMARY:Tampa Metropolitan Improv
DESCRIPTION:The minds that brought you Tales of Mild Interest (or TMI for short) are returning to their improv roots\, with the newly formed Tampa Metropolitan Improv (or TMI for short)!\nCome for a riotously good time\, and perhaps even play along with us\, as we perform short-form improv games using suggestions from you\, the audience (think along the lines of Whose Line is it Anyway\, or Dropout TV’s Make Some Noise). No two TMI shows are alike\, but rest assured\, we bring a saucy\, edgy\, extremely cool\, and hip PG-13 rating to the function that most of the family can enjoy! \nYou’ll laugh! You’ll cry! (Hopefully\, the crying is from the laughter.) But who knows…it’s improv\, baby! \n\nAdmission: Free for members / $5 general admission \n\nThis is a ticketed event. Some processing fees may apply\, even for free tickets. Visit the Box Office or call (813) 922-8167 to avoid processing fees.

SUMMARY:War of the Worlds
DESCRIPTION:Join us as campers ages 14-16 enrolled in our 4-week Youth Arts Intensive program perform The War of the Worlds.\nThe War of the Worlds radio broadcast\, directed by Orson Welles on October 30\, 1938\, was a dramatization of H.G. Wells’ novel. It was presented as a series of fake news bulletins simulating a Martian invasion of Earth targeting New Jersey. The realistic sound effects and presentation style led some listeners to believe it was an actual event and caused widespread panic despite announcements that it was a fictional play. The event remains one of the most famous examples of mass hysteria triggered by a radio broadcast. \nADMISSION: Admission to this performance is free\, and tickets are not required. Enjoy! \nSHOW CREDITS: War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells | Originally performed by The Mercury Theatre directed and narrated by Orson Welles

SUMMARY:Snowblind: A Black Sabbath Tribute
DESCRIPTION:Snowblind is more than a tribute concert—it’s an endeavor to honor Black Sabbath’s music and bring the energy of those early days to the stage. \nWhile everyone in the band can admire the likes of Ronnie James Dio\, Tony Martin\, Ian Gillan\, and the other vocal powerhouses that have fronted the band over the years\, Snowblind is specifically a tribute to those early days with Ozzy at the helm. The setlists pull primarily from those first eight incredible albums.  \n\nAdmission: $20 member / $25 general admission (This event will have a cash bar.)
