DESCRIPTION:RThis 12-week class will teach teens the concept and design behind mural making. \nDuring the first few weeks\, students will meet with local muralists\, discuss design styles\, develop concepts\, and design a mural to paint on an internal wall of a commercial building. \nIn the remaining weeks\, students will meet on location (offsite from the CCC) and transfer their design to the wall\, paint it and watch their very own mural design come to life. DESCRIPTION:A Seasonal Tradition!\n\nThe Holiday Trees Display & Auction is a fundraiser for the Carrollwood Cultural Center. View and bid on a variety of themed holiday trees displayed in our lobby. Proceeds benefit our Tom Jones Tuition Assistance Fund\, which provides children from families with low income the opportunity to attend Summer Camp for free or reduced tuition. \n\n\n\n\n\nOur 2022 auction includes 19 themed holiday trees\, both large and small. This year’s themes include Precious Moments to All Hallows Eve and Gnome for the Holidays to What the Elf? And don’t miss the tree featuring a triceratops or the Kid’s Book Tree\, which includes a 6-foot bookshelf handcrafted by Executive Director Paul Berg.\nThe online auction ends December 11 at 9 p.m. \n\n\n\n\nIf you prefer not to bid on a tree\, but would like to make a donation direction to the Tom Jones Tuition Assistance Fund\, please CLICK HERE.

DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE for show and performance information. \nCarrollwood Cultural Center and show director David J. Valdez are holding auditions for The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. Seeking emotionally versatile actors to portray these iconic characters in one of the most famous plays of modern theatre. \nThe Glass Menagerie is a “memory play” in which Tom recalls scenes from his youth during the height of the Great Depression. It shows his mother\, Amanda\, trying to maintain a lost gentility amid overwhelming poverty and cajoling her children into her idea of happiness. \nPlease prepare a 60-second monologue or story in the spirit of the show (think Tennessee Williams\, Arthur Miller\, Eugene O’Neil\, Lorraine Hansberry\, Edward Albee\, or similar.) Those auditioning may be asked to stay for a cold read with other attendees. \nIMPORTANT PRODUCTION DATES\nAuditions: November 20 and 21\, beginning at 6 pm. \nPossible Callbacks: November 22\, beginning at 7 pm \nRehearsals Begin: Monday\, December 5\, 2022 \nTech Week: Begins February 12\, 2023 \nPerformance Dates: February 17\, 18\, 24\, and 25 @8pm\, February 19 and 26 @ 2pm \nCASTING BREAKDOWN\nAmanda Wingfield – Lead Female\, mid-40s or older. Laura and Tom’s mother. A proud\, vivacious woman clinging fervently to memories of a vanished\, genteel past. She is simultaneously admirable\, charming\, pitiable\, and laughable. \nLaura Wingfield – early to mid-20s. Laura has a bad leg\, on which she has to wear a brace\, and she walks with a limp. Painfully shy\, she has largely withdrawn from the outside world and devotes herself to old records and her collection of glass figurines. \nTom Wingfield – early to mid-20s. An aspiring poet\, Tom works at a shoe warehouse to support the family. He is frustrated by the numbing routine of his job and escapes from it through movies\, literature\, and alcohol. \nJim O’Conner – An old acquaintance of Tom and Laura. Jim was a popular athlete in high school and is now a shipping clerk at the shoe warehouse where Tom works. He is unwaveringly devoted to goals of professional achievement and ideals of personal success. \nThe Center is committed to equity\, diversity\, and inclusion.
