SUMMARY:Summer Intensive: Peter and the Starcatcher
DESCRIPTION:“Peter and the Starcatcher”July 6-July 31\n \nA Summer Intensive for Ages 14-17. \nTony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels\, the play was conceived for the stage by directors Roger Rees and Alex Timbers\, written by Rick Elice\, and featuring music by Wayne Barker. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes\, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair… and the bonds of friendship\, duty\, and love. \nA young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin\, which contains a precious\, otherworldly cargo. At sea\, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly\, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff\, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates – led by the fearsome Black Stache\, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own – the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure. \nFeaturing a dozen actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters\, Peter and the Starcatcher uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life. It can be expanded or pared down technically to fit the specific needs and abilities of any theatre company. \nNEW: Intensive students will register to be either a performer or part of the tech crew (lighting/sound) for this production. \nSHOW CREDITS: A Play by Rick Elice | Based on the Novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson |Music by Wayne Barker | Originally produced on Broadway by Nancy Nagel Gibbs\, Greg Schaffert\, Eva Price\, Tom Smedes\, and Disney Theatrical Productions | Peter and the Starcatcher is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). SUMMARY:Peter and the Starcatcher
DESCRIPTION:A Play by Rick Elice Based on the Novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson Music by Wayne Barker Originally produced on Broadway by Nancy Nagel Gibbs\, Greg Schaffert\, Eva Price\, Tom Smedes\, and Disney Theatrical Productions |\nPerformed by the Center’s Summer Intensive Students\, Ages 14-17 \nTony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. \nPeter and the Starcatcher is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. (www.mtishows.com) \nAdmission is free. \nCLICK HERE for more information about our summer intensive program for ages 14 to 17.
