SUMMARY:Upstairs/Downstairs at the Tampa Bay Hotel with Mr. & Mrs. Bergner
DESCRIPTION:Upstairs/Downstairs at the Tampa Bay Hotel with Mr. & Mrs. Bergner\, 1890s\nDuring the 1890s\, from December to April\, the Tampa Bay Hotel was a lively place for the elite to visit during the winter social season. Gilded Age visitors Mr. and Mrs. Bergner have arrived to see and be seen\, but what should this wealthy duo wear to appear their best? This humorous performance demonstrates the many layers worn in the 19th century and examines the reasons for this period’s elaborate clothing and accessories. Mr. Bergner is played by Mike Norton\, and Mrs. Bergner is played by Roberta Koutney. \n\nUpstairs/Downstairs at the Tampa Bay Hotel is based on original research conducted by the Henry Plant Museum. Professional actors recreate the attitudes and mores of a bygone time\, along with the sorrows and joys of their existence. Performances are 30 minutes. Arrive early\, as seating is limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nUpstairs/Downstairs is graciously underwritten by Mosaic and with the support of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. \nAdmission: Free \n\nOnline processing fees may apply.

SUMMARY:Gretel! The Musical
DESCRIPTION:Join us as campers ages 11-13 enrolled in our 3-week Youth Arts Intensive program perform Gretel! The Musical.\nBefore Hansel\, there was Gretel! Based on the Russian source\, which is the origin story of the tale\, this musical focuses on the girls and women at the center of the adventure. Featuring folk/rock music\, the songs capture the darkness but also the humor and humanity of Gretel’s journey to fetch the skull of undying light from Baba Yaga\, one of the most fascinating witches of all time. On her way\, Gretel meets the Black Knight\, who holds the secrets of the stars in his cloak\, and three horsemen\, who carry the sun across the sky. Once Gretel reaches Baba Yaga’s hut on chicken legs\, she confronts the witch. Baba Yaga sets three impossible tasks for Gretel to complete in exchange for the skull. In the tasks\, Gretel discovers the positive power of her anger\, the comfort of her compassion\, the gift of her grief\, and the truth of her birthright as she teaches herself how to survive. \nADMISSION: Admission to this performance is free\, and tickets are not required.
