DESCRIPTION:Tampa native and violinist Tiffany Lu returns to town as the guest artist to join pianist Franz Mantini for this year’s edition of Strings in the Spring. The program will feature Sonatas by Bach and Beethoven\, as well as a collection of delightful shorter works by Kreisler\, Debussy\, Bartok\, Shostakovich\, and Mason Bates.\n\nABOUT VIOLINIST TIFFANY LU \nMs. Lu is Assistant Professor and Director of Orchestra at the University of Florida\, and Music Director of the renowned Pierre Monteux School and Music Festival in Hancock\, Maine. She maintains an active performing profile as an orchestral violinist\, chamber music collaborator\, and private violin teacher. DESCRIPTION:In 1964 Basil Rodriguez began playing the trumpet. By 1966\, he was playing along with his parents’ collection of Tijuana Brass records. He was 11. The rest\, as they say\, is history.\nAfter finding inspiration from those Tijuana Brass records\, Basil went on to have a successful career as a professional trumpet player\, playing in clubs throughout the United States in the 70s. Now\, his career has come full circle to his first love: the music of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. Just as Herb did in the 60s\, Basil has assembled a band of eight seasoned musicians to form The Ultimate Tijuana Brass Tribute.
