DESCRIPTION:Carrollwood Cultural Center\, show director Chris Holcom\, and music director Latoya McCormick-Hutchinson will hold auditions for Return to the Forbidden Planet by Bob Carlton.\n \nShakespeare’s forgotten rock and roll masterpiece! Inspired by The Tempest\, this high-energy jukebox musical is packed with rock ‘n’ roll classics\, including “Great Balls of Fire\,” “Good Vibrations\,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood\,” “Young Girl” and “Gloria.” \nBlast off on a routine flight and crash into the planet D’Illyria\, where a sci-fi version of The Tempest – set to rock ‘n’ roll golden oldies – unfolds with glee! The planet is inhabited by a sinister scientist\, Dr. Prospero; his delightful daughter Miranda; Ariel\, a faithful robot on roller skates; and an uncontrollable monster\, the product of Prospero’s id\, whose tentacles penetrate the space craft. \nPresented through Concord Theatricals. \nIMPORTANT PRODUCTION DATES: \nAuditions: \n\nMay 5 / 6:30-9 p.m.\nPossible Callback: May 6 / 6:30 p.m.\n\nPerformances: \n\nJuly 18 / 8 p.m.\nJuly 19 / 8 p.m.\nJuly 20 / 2 p.m.\nJuly 25 / 8 p.m.\nJuly 26 / 8 p.m.\nJuly 27 / 2 p.m.\n\nAUDITION REQUIREMENTS: \nPlease prepare 14 lines of a poem/sonnet (doesn’t have to be Shakespearean) and 16 bars of a 50s/60s Rock/Pop song. \n\nThe Center has always been committed to equal opportunities.
