STRINGS IN THE SPRING
May 23 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Strings in the Spring logoViolinist Vivek Jarayaman joins pianist Franz Mantini in the 2021 edition of Strings in the Spring at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. The eclectic program begins with the musicians collaborating in Mozart’s Sonata in B-Flat Major, K. 378, and followed by each taking a solo turn on their respective instruments; Mr. Mantini playing a Nocturne and Etude by Frederic Chopin and Mr. Jarayaman performing Ysaye’s Sonata #4. They will then finish together in the Suite for Violin and Piano by William Grant Still. Long known as   the “Dean of African-American Classical Composers”, Still’s suite takes the listener on a journey with the outer movements’ inimitable rhythms, blues, and jazzy discourse framed around the serene middle movement reminiscent of a lullaby.
