This class works well for beginners and more advanced
painters. Using the theories and methods that were invented by the French
Impressionist painters, a canvas is “built” much like a house. There are six
stages in the process that is a time-honored way of making a painting using
values to guide the work along. Color, of course, is stressed but not given as a
recipe, and the student will find that learning these steps will allow painting
any subject matter a joy rather than a struggle. In this class, we will work
from a still life, provided by the student. The first class will be a lecture
demonstration by the instructor where the method and materials that are used
will be demonstrated and discussed.
